So browsing their website like I do from time to time I discovered a new trim they added to the Jetta for 2014: TDI value edition.
Steelies, heated seats, TDI motor... YES!

THIS is exactly I wanted from VW. Added high onto my 'next car' wishlist!
Factoring in inflation of the US dollar and all, this is a great 'push' or incentive to kick start diesels in America again, though they sure are getting more popular based on sales.
That is all.

Too bad it's a current Jetta.

i have a mk6 jetta 4 cylinder as a rental right now while my transmission gets rebuilt on my Mk5. I hate it, it has NO POWER at all. Car is too heavy for such little power. Styling sucks, looks like a Toyota or Nissan at this point. That goes for the outside and inside, so boring and uninspired compared to the Mk5

I wish I could like Volkswagens.

If I were to ever buy a VW I said to myself I have to buy the diesel version, if the car I'm buying isn't the Golf R.

If all goes right, we should be getting the MkVII GTD in 2015!

Agreed. My mom has an 09 Jetta and loves it to pieces (as do I). She had it in the shop for warranty-covered fixes (go figure…) and they gave her a current Jetta as a loaner. What an uninspired, bland piece of junk. Drum brakes, twist beam axle, cheap plastics everywhere. Terrible.

My thoughts exactly. Just wish my Mk5 was in the shop for a minor fix than major surgery in the form of a new rebuilt transmission cause mine went out at 96,500 miles. Still haven't been given a reason why exactly it failed

Ironically enough, the reason my mom's was in the shop was the transmission as well. Everything functioned correctly and she never had an issue with it, but the dealer noticed a strange whirring noise in second and first gear when coming to a stop. After many diagnostic tests and test drives, the service manager just said he'd be putting in a brand new transmission under warranty. They sent the one with the issue to Germany for an autopsy - never heard the results.
